Introduction

Soochow University Library is based at the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Library at the Waishuanghsi campus, and has a secondary branch at the Downtown campus. With primary focus on the fields of humanities, social science, law, business, and foreign languages, the Library's collections are rich and diverse, containing more than 800,000 volumes, 200,000 non-print items and various kinds of electronic resources. It offers a wide range of services, such as circulation, reference, interlibrary loan, and promotion of library resources.

The Main Library occupies more than 8,000 square meters in a 9-storey building completed in 1978. On the premises, several sections have been established according to their functions, including Reader Service Area, Information Retrieval Area, Reference & Periodical Area, Non-print Materials Room, Stacks (including Compact Stacks), General Study Rooms ( Learning Commons Soochow Reading Commons and 2nd Study Room), Discussion Rooms, Study Carrels, and Administrative Area.

Downtown Campus Library is located on the 6th and 7th floors of Building Two. Besides, in B1 of Chong Ji Building and B2 of Building Five, two General Reading Rooms have been established with total area up to 3,030 square meters. The main collections of this Library focus on the related materials of law and business school. On the premises, several sections have been established, such as Service Area, Information Retrieval Area, Periodical Area, Non-print Materials Area, Stacks, Reading Area (including Quiet Reading Area), and Discussion Rooms.
